Association de Mama de Mahagi Port Centre is a grassroots women’s initiative working in Mahagi Port along the shores of Lake Albert. They focus on cleaning markets, landing sites and neighbourhoods affected by heavy waste accumulation.
Their work supports safer living conditions, reduces plastic pollution and protects fish breeding areas. The group also educates households on environmental hygiene, health risks linked to pollution and the importance of keeping common spaces clean.
Their leadership has strengthened community participation in environmental protection and improved public health in one of the busiest and most densely populated areas of Wagungu Chiefdom.
