60.8 KM, A BLOODY ROAD. We, the Hutus, Nandes, Hundes, Tustis and Pygmées, the Earth defenders of the Bwisha chiefdom, denounce the forced loss of our biological resources, our cultural heritage and our food sovereignty in the north of the Rutshuru territory, the low river-lacustrine plain stretching up to the fisheries of Lake Edward. For this reason, our purpose is to expose the environmental crimes that are being perpetrated in our territory, focusing first on what is happening along the main road, about 60 km long, that leads from Rutshuru to Ishasha.
