Interactive Report On The Livelihood Of The Fisherwomen Of Lake Albert On The Border Between Uganda and Dr Congo

Morembe, my name is Beatrice and I am an Alur fisherwoman from Lake Albert. I live in the village of Dei, at the border between Uganda and DRC. Our land is in a unique place, a plain enclosed between the mountain and the lake. Many of us fish Mukene, Onangnang, Angara and Ngassa. I do it for subsistence of my household, while the extra I sell at the landing site.

Many thanks to Global Alliance for Green and Gender Action, which through Mama Cash and the David and Lucile Packard Foundation allowed the women of Dei’s sub-county to amplify their voices, thanks to the careful work of the Environmental Defenders team and the scientific coordination of Pamella Lakidi Achan and Alessandro Musetta
